On 24th October 2009, people all over the world took a stand for a safe climate future. Goa has registered their participation in the worldwide campaign too at http://www.350. org/Goa. Awareness campaigns were held in Margao, Vasco, Panaji, Ponda and Maupsa.

A function was organised at St Francis Xavier's School Auditorium on October 14, 2009, which was addressed by India's top fashion designer and chairman of Green Goa Works, Wendell Rodricks, Clinton Vaz (environmental consultant), Seby Rodrigues (mining activist) and others.

The interactive session was preceded by an entertaining cultural programme with "village environment" as the theme. 

The event was a part of the nascent Club's ongoing initiative to safeguard Siolim's environment and heritage. 

Goa's Science and Technology Minister, Churchill Alemao has done it again. He's just discovered a new cause for tsunamis. Mr Alemao attributed the recent floods that ravaged the southern parts of the state to a 'mini tsunami' in the Arabian Sea.

When the larger part of 12,000 registered commercial buses go off the road on the first day of the week, the situation cannot be less than chaotic.

The Transport minister may happily claim that only 2,500 of these buses were off the roads. His claim would have been hardly reassuring to all those thousands of anxious commuters.

AN OPERATIC EXPERIENCE: International singing star Patricia Rozario's dazzling concert thrilled Goan music lovers at the Kala Academy Hall in Panjim, Goa, India, on August 29, 2009. The troupe included her husband Mark Troop on the piano, Dhilan Gnandurai, award-winning Shri Lankan baritone, and superb tenor Alistair Digges. In solo, duet and trio they treated the audience to scintillating classical music drawn from Handel, Mozart, Thomas, Verdi, Cimarosa, Donizetti, Gounod and Rossini.

Patricia Rosario, famed UK-based soprano of Goan origin, appeared well pleased after the audition of budding Goan talent at the Black Box of Kala Academy in Panjim, Goa, India, on August 28, 2009. Ms Rosario in India to explore possibilities of training young talent here for soprano singing. Patricia hails from Assagao in Goa.
