Ten days after the Margao bomb blast, no arrests have been made and no discernable action is being taken, either by the police or on the political front. The perpetrators and accomplices, besides the two dead, are as yet unknown. This has led to an increase in the sense of insecurity in the still shaken people of the state.

Goa is in a state of flux at present. This is a generally literate state, with a western fusion type of culture - not just because of the long Portuguese occupation - but also because migration has long been an accepted and much used way of life.

The sharp increase in the number of vehicles - both private and commercial, coupled with the present state of the public transport, has led to vehicle pollutants, including lead, becoming a major factor in the pollution levels in the state. 

That our public transport is in a pathethic state will be something no one will deny - not even the notoriously blind and generally insensitive, nay, thick skinned authorities.

After the opposition by many agriculturists, a re-survey called by the government is underway, notwithstanding the memorandum submitted to the deputy collector requesting that the survey be held after Ganesh Chaturthi.
