If you have an opinion, express yourself in the Village Tinto.
We welcome content from diverse streams of thought - left, right, centre; liberal, conservative; it's all encouraged here! Our goal is to provide a platform for all thoughts, to engage in conversations and debate.
To submit content, simply register and click on the Submit Content link in your dashboard. We do moderate posts to keep out spam, pornography and hateful speech and other un-welcome content. Please understand, this is not to censor views we do not endorse, but to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all in the community. See below for more on what's not welcome.
Volunteer Editors
We are looking for volunteer editors who will scour news and opinions on Goa and aggregate and link to that content so as to amplify the voices of the community through the Tinto.
If you would like to volunteer to spend some time, daily or weekly, to scour the net for news, views and creative content on Goa or by Goans, do drop us a line at thedesk AT villagetinto DOT in
Of special interest are volunteers who could translate important local Konkani and Marathi news and opinion for the community.
Bloggers
At the Tinto, we encourage individuals to use the power of the net and set up and run independent blogs on their areas of interest. Village Tinto will help people around the world find your content using the power in collective networks.
Commentary based on articles in a Goa newspaper, or programmes on a local television channel are also welcome.

NGOs, institutions, associations and groups
If you are a grassroots activist, a part of an educational institution, NGO, cultural or sports body or a special interest collective/ group, we invite you to create a section in the Tinto and post regular news, opinion and information. It does not matter if your organisation has or does not have its own website.
Editorial Guidelines:
As with any community, we need some basic guidelines in place to make the experience enjoyable and safe for the community as a whole. Here are the guidelines for the Village Tinto:
Who can contribute?
We accept contributions from any individual or organisation. Here we make no distinction whatsoever.
What kinds of material can be posted?
We accept all kinds of material -
News: Good news, bad news, personal news. At the Tinto we would like to carry news that is of relevence to people at the grass-roots, your news. Stories about a current event, issue or new development as it affects you. We are particularly interested in stories that are largely ignored by mainstream media due to commercial interests, space constraints and a host of other reasons.
Views: Have an opinion on a current event or issue? Share it here as a featured blogger. Would like to share your analysis on something of public interest? This could be your platform.
Creative Content: We don't just follow news at the Tinto. Here you could post images, videos, poetry, short prose (fiction and non-fiction), paintings - anything you would like to share in the Tinto.
How-tos and Self Help: We invite professionals from various fields, from medicine to architecture to art and craft, to share important tips and techniques with the Tinto community. We also invite hobbists to share knowledge and personal experiences. Of special interest are topics on Goan art and crafts, food etc.
Civil Society Organisations (NGOs): We invite CSOs working in various fields in Goa to set up their section in the Tinto and regularly send in updates and material of public interest. We look to collaborate closely with organisations (and individuals) quietly doing important work at the grass-roots. The Tinto is for you.
Events: If you are organising an event or know of one do send us an intimation. Of special interest are public debates, village meets, seminars and workshops. After the event, do remember to also send us material, text, images and videos on the proceedings.
What isn't welcome?
The Tinto generally works on the power of the community. However, individuals also need to respect that power and use it for common good. As in the real life tinto, there are certain things that are not welcome here.
- Hate Speech / Racially or ethnically offensive content
- Accusations against individuals or organisations without reasonable backing
- Pornography/sexually explicit content
- Obscene/lewd content
- Content that advocates violent behavior
- Content that contains violent images of killing or physical abuse that appear to have been captured solely, or principally, for exploitive, prurient or gratuitous purposes
- Content that advocates dangerous, illegal or predatory acts or poses a reasonable threat to personal or public safety
- Content that infringes somebody's copyright
Editorial Setup
We are currently building an editorial team to ensure free and fair participation from all sections of society and to make certain the Tinto is not infiltrated by unscruplous elements posting material classified above. Beyond this basic role, we do not exert any editorial influence on the material posted on the site, regardless of the viewpoint. In fact, in the Village Tinto, we encourage divergent viewpoints for healthy debate and better understanding of the "other"

All content posted on this site is contributed by citizens. The views expressed are those of the contributor and not necessarily that of the The Village Tinto. We also make no guarantees about the authenticity or accuracy of the news. If you feel any item violates or infringes on your rights or is in violation of the policies of the Tinto as listed here, send us an email at thedesk@villagetinto.in. Should any such claim be found to be valid, the post will be taken down forthwith.
However, in case of contentious issues, we are encourage posting divergent views and maintain the Village Tinto as a platform for all sections of society.
