64 new health sub-centres soon

The state cabinet on Wednesday decided to establish 64 new health sub-centres in rural areas of the state, with an aim to take care of the health needs of the residents. The project would be taken up under the National Rural Health Mission of the central government, with the state having a share of 50 per cent of the involved expenditure. Briefing the media after chairing the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat said that these health sub-centres, affiliated to the directorate of health services, would be established in various locations from Pernem to Canacona.

“We propose to set them up in places like Curti, Haveli and Shahapur in Ponda taluka, Morjim and Palyem in Pernem taluka, Talpona in Canacona taluka and so on, where people have no basic health facilities,” he stated, adding that the doctors would visit these health sub-centres on rotation basis.”
