A bomb threat delayed the train from Okha to Ernakulam for two hours at the Margoa railway station today. But, a thorough search proved that it was a false alarm.
The train had halted at Margao at around 9 a.m today. "A caller phoned that there was a bomb on the train. However, it was found to be an unattended bag belonging to somebody from the MPT" the SP South, Mr Alan de Sa said.
The Railway Police, the Margao police conducted a search of the train with the help of the bomb squad but found only the black bag that proved harmless.
The police sealed the platform to conduct the search.
The Ernakulam-Okha Express, on its bi weekly run, shuttles between Ernakulam Junction Railway Station in Kerala and Okha Railway Station in Gujarat, covering a distance of 2,559 km. The train touches Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, Udupi, Margao, Ratnagiri, Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Dwarka on the way.
