The ad hoc committee on Health and Social Welfare came out heavily against the state of affairs at the GMC. The chairman of the committee stated it is totally dissatisfied with the standards and levels of cleanliness in the Goa Medical College.
The chairman, Mr Pandurang Dhavalikar said the committee calls for a thorough review of the performance of various agencies entrusted with the task of cleanliness, adding that mere outsourcing of sweeping and swabbing operations to private agencies will not ensure the best standards of cleanliness expected within the premises of the GMC.
The report also expressed concern over delay in dental treatment and waiting list of 3 to 6 months, at the Goa Dental College.
Health minister Vishwajit Rane announced in the Assembly, the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim will get six state-of-the-art operation theatres, while the new district hospital at Mapusa will get a cardiac unit.
