Sesa mines bags Govt awards

Sesa Goa Limited has bagged a number of prizes at the recently concluded 20th Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week for the year 2009, conducted by Indian Bureau of Mines, Government of India. During this period all participating mines' activities were scrutinised and documents were checked.

In the category of very large mechanised mines, Codli group of mines bagged the prize for afforestation, reclamation and rehabilitation and overall performance. Sonshi Mine bagged the prize for waste dump management.

In the category of Medium Mechanised Mines, Sanquelim Mine bagged the 1st prize for afforestation and reclamation and rehabilitation and 2nd prize for overall performance.

Besides prizes, a special prize was instituted this year by MEMC council that is "Green Award" for executive and non executive category for the inputs/ initiatives by the person for the improvement for environment management and pollution control. Sesa Goa personnel won the 1st prize in two categories namely in the Executive Category by Mr. Khedekar - mining engineer, Codli Mine, and in the non-executive category by Mr. Gokuldas- Foreman, Sonshi Mine.
