Trawler owners face labour crunch at start of season

With the fishing season set to begin in Goa on Saturday after a 45 day ban, trawler owners face a shortage of skilled migrant labourers.

However, a trawler owner from Cutbona rued that there is acute shortage of trained crewmembers to work on trawlers and they have to go to Manglore and Karwar to get trained hands.

Against the background of reports about a mysterious vessel being spotted off the Goa coast, senior police officers have sought co-operation from trawler owners and crew members at the Cutbona jetty to tighten security.
