Orders on River Princess soon, says HC

The stage is set for the High Court of Bombay at Goa to decide on the removal of the River Princess. The case is fixed for the 1st of September 2009.

Cops rescue three girls from Candolim parlour

Calangute police on Friday evening raided a massage parlour in Candolim and rescued three girls who were victims of trafficking. They also arrested three customers, one woman Yashoda and the manager of the parlour Laxman Gawde.

Candolim shore devastated as geo tubes fail

Goa's two-pronged pilot project at Candolim of arresting severe beach erosion and inducing its restoration through use of geo tubes and sand nourishment has run into rough weather with a 140-metre stretch of the artificial barrier punctured by floating debris, resulting in further erosion of the devastated beach. 

Better facilities needed at Candolim PHC

The coastal stretch of Candolim, Calangute, Sinquerim and Baga is a major tourist attraction in Bardez taluka. Many a times there is a spurt in drowning cases at these beaches. But the health services to deal with drowning cases in this belt are found wanting as the primary health centre at Candolim is not well-equipped to deal with such cases and victims have to be rushed to private hospitals.
